We missed Daddy.
We are so glad he is here! I gave both Landon and Chris haircuts last night and that was my first time ever. I didn't want to shave Landon's head but his haircut was so bad that I had to. It was driving us nuts. I think I did a good job...if I do say so myself!
We've moved!
Gonna miss this! I took this picture on the freeway as I was driving to Mandy's baby shower.
Saying bye to Rissa Roo.
Here is Landon helping unload the truck.
It was a long trip but we finally made it to Utah on Monday morning around 5am. We were given a 24 foot truck even though we rented a 16 foot truck from Budget (at no extra charge). We were kind of upset at first because the truck was SO BIG but surprisingly, we needed all of the room. Chris was nervous at first but he did an awesome job driving. Yeah, we made it all in one piece :)

Mandy's Baby Shower
Mandy had her baby shower on Friday, the 22nd (my actual due date exactly two years ago!)
I was really excited that the shower was planned a little early so that I would be able to come while I was in WA. I was surprised to see how much her tummy has grown since the last time I saw her-she is so cute! I can't wait to meet her little guy who is expected to be here on December 24th.
On Saturday, I hung out with Mandy while Chris had his last day at work. The next time I see her, she will be a mommy! Here she is in front of the expectant mother parking at the Super Mall. I told you she was cute!Tuesday, August 19, 2008
A Bright Sun Shiney Day
Today was such a great day! I went to an orientation for work and met everyone I was going to be working with and they seem really cool! I'm excited to get to know everyone more and to be able to interact with the students. I start working on Tuesday and was told I need to wear tennis shoes everyday....uh oh. Hopefully I will be able to find a pair I like with this busy busy weekend coming up!! My grandpa also came over to work on the basement some more. He has been working so hard on it while my dad is out of town on business. It's really coming along and I cannot WAIT for it to be done. Landon's room is ready to prime! Oh, and another good thing about today is I bought a chocolate and caramel covrered apple. I haven't had one in a long time and I was so excited when I saw them selling at a candy stand at Tai Pan. I wasn't too excited that it cost me $8 but it was sooooooo worth it! Yes, I did take a picture of it because I was that happy about it. HAHA! Did I forget to mention that Chris is COMING HOME WITH ME?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am such a lucky girl. I love him so much and can't wait to see him tomorrow. Life is good!
By the way, I decided to post this blog as "A Bright Sun Shiney Day" because of a man who spoke today at orientation. Not only did he give a wonderful (& hilarious) speak, he sang that song at the end and also played the guitar. He is also blind. BLIND! He was crazy awesome. He talked about how we need to try everything we can at life and if we fail, it's okay because we gave it a shot. He really made me think about what I needed to be grateful for in my life.

It Was About TIme
I finally cut off my dried out, long, boring, & annoying hair! I was scared to do it but it really needed to be done. I asked for a longer a-line cut and ended up with this. Oh well. It feels so much better. I'm still trying to figure out the bangs but hey, it's healthy!
Obviously this is the before shot. I think I look way different now.
Right after I got my hair cut, I headed over to my sisters. I didn't have the salon dry or style my hair because I didn't want to pay the extra money when I could just do it myself. As soon as I got to my sisters, we started to play with my hair to make it look a little better. I started to straighten it and Brit kept insisting that if I got it wet, blow dried it, and then straightened it would look a lot better. Annnd it did! I guess sisters really do know best :)

While I was doing my hair, Uncle Cody made Landon a sippy of ovaltine and entertained him for a while . HE LOVED IT! Such a great uncle!
Oh, and here is a picture of me and my boy. Just because I love him so much!

Davis County Rodeo
We went to the Davis County fair yesterday afternoon and then went to the rodeo at 8pm. The fair wasn't huge but we had a good time. They had a free petting zoo with sheep, lamas, pigs, and goats. Landon loved the sleeping pig and kept tilting his face to the pigs face trying to talk to him. He also really liked the pony ride and cried when he had to get off. The rodeo was a lot of fun but it was SO DANG WINDY! Landon was a good sport and loved to see the horses and cows. He also found a new love-kettle corn. He was shoving handfuls in his mouth and when it wouldn't all fit, the wind would blow it away. Too funny. I didn't get any good pics because of the wind so this is as good as it gets!

A New Haircut
Landon got his haircut today and Cookie Cutters and it was surprisingly a pretty good experience. Landon's Great Grandmother cut his hair for the first time shortly before his first birthday and then Alisha cut his hair a few times after that with scissors and it wasn't so bad but ever since, we have been taking him to the hair cutting place down the road from our home in Washington. It was a nightmare! Two of us had to hold Landon down while he just had his head shaved because it was just so much quicker. Landon screamed bloody murder the whole time and had snot and hair everywhere. I thought taking him to Cookie Cutters would be fun for him because they put the kids in cute little automobiles. When we got there, we waited for a few minutes and Landon played on the slide. It was the coolest salon I have ever been to! I still wasn't sure Landon would fully coorporate but he did! He fussed for a second but I held his hand and towards the end, was playing and didn't even mind the buzzer. Such a relief! We will definately be taking him there for his furture haircuts. The girl that cut his hair did a good job but she buzzed the sides and back WAY WAY too short. It looks sort of like a military cut. Luckily, Landon's hair grows fast. He sure looks cute from the front though!!
Afterwards, we ran over to Costco to have one of the wedding pictures blown up and I took the opportunity to try on a few pairs of glasses. I don't have insurance yet and it's only $45 there to have an eye exam. The glasses there are super cute too. Landon had fun trying on some of the kiddo glasses. I was cracking up at him! It was adorable.

Bedroom stuff.
I'll admit that I'm kind of a thrifty kind of shopper. I don't usually buy anything unless it's on sale and I will hunt for a bargain before I buy what I am looking for. I am pretty much obsessed with the DI and you can probably find me there at least once or twice a week. I've found so many fun things there. I think the best deal I ever bought from a thrift store is Landon's maple crib (in Seattle) for 12 bucks. I since have painted it white and boughten one part it was missing but it is a great peice of furniture! Anyway, I found this comforter set yesterday for $4. FOUR DOLLARS! I love it but normally probably wouldn't of picked it out but since it was that cheap, I had to! I have it over the side of the twin bed but it is going to go on our queen. I also bought two little night stands from Target with one of our giftcards from the wedding. We have wanted nightstands for so long but have never really had the cash. We are finally starting to get some nice furniture of our own instead of whatever people will give us. Not that we don't appreicate anything (!) but it's nice to be able to pick out what we want and have everything kind of match. I am super excited to move everything to Utah from Washington and to set up everything in the basement when it's done. My head is running crazy with ideas. I want to blow up a picture from the wedding and put it above our bed in a black frame and have been trying to decide which photo to choose. I think I am going to go with the above photo in black and white. Costco does blow up pictures for like, 2 bucks. AWESOME! I hope Chris likes what I have picked out for our new bedroom!

Yeehaw!
Bumper Hugger
This is what I found when I went in to check on Landon at nap time the other day. I wish I could climb in his crib with him. He's so cute! Pretty soon, Landon will have a big boy bed. I'm interested to see how Mr. Two year old will do. He has never climbed out of his crib before which kind of surprises me. The crib that Grandma has is a lot small than the one we have so I thought for sure he would find a way out but nope, he's a good boy! I think a new bed will go well....hopefully!
My Little Biker Dude.
My mom bought this seat (hooks on to the back of a bicycle) and helmet for Landon and he LOVES IT! I didn't think he would want to keep the helmet on but he doesn't ever want to take it off. He even wants to wear it around the house. Since I am so out of shape, I can only take him around the block a couple of times before my legs are on fire. Since Landon enjoys it so much and it's a good work out for me, I think we are going to be using this quite often. It's fun to have Landon along for the ride and to hear him say "Whoa, whoa, whoooooa!" right behind me. What a good idea Grandma!!!

A Change of Plans.
I am still flying to Washington on the 20th and leaving on the 23rd this month but Chris is no longer coming home with me at the same time :( We decided it would make more sense for Chris to stay and have one more paycheck for when he comes to Utah since we won't have any source of income until I get paid at the end of September. Plus, his boss offered him some extra cash to stay for just 2 more weeks. My brother bought a plane ticket to Utah for a visit right around the time I was leaving for WA but decided he wants to stay so he is going to drive the u-haul back with me. At first, I was going to try and change my plane ticket but didn't want to for a few reasons:
1. I have to start working on August 25th
2. Mandy's baby shower is on the 22nd of August in Wa & I wanted to be there for that
3. I would miss Landon's birthday.
We also decided that we are going to try to trade in our honda civic for a honda accord so Chris is going to drive that down on September 6th. It works out perfect because we are going to have Landon's birthday party the next day, Sunday the 7th. Anyway, I'm excited to see everyone in Washington and to finally have our belongings in Utah. I am so tired of living out of my suitcase!!! Driving with Travis is going to be quite the adventure but I am looking forward to it.

A sign for Landon
My cousin Amy made this sign for Landon on the 4th of July. The next day, I painted it navy blue and the rest white but didn't have a small enough brush to do the letters. My mom bought some little brushes today and gave them to me so I headed to Ben Franklin's to get some ribbon and a paint color for the letters. I picked out some red ribbon with beige colored stars and I decided to use a beige color instead of the white and a green color for the letters. Now I'm not sure if I like it. I was trying to go with the color scheme of his room. Mostly blues, reds, yellows, and greens. I called my sister like twenty times at the craft store to get her opinion so I'm sure she was getting sick of me calling but I just don't know which colors to pick. Does anyone have any ideas?!
Firstborn survey
I thought this survey would be fun to do since Landon's 2nd birthday is coming up!
How old were you when you had your 1st baby? 19
When was your baby actually born? September 5th, 2006
Did you have any strange pregnancy cravings? I wouldn't call my cravings strange. I ate A LOT of cold things since it was such a hot summer. Otter pops, slurpees, and icecream were my favorite.
Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? None at all.
Did you go into labor on your own? Well, I was induced after going over my due date by a week and nothing happened. We were sent home and told to come back in one week to try again. On the day I was supossed to be induced, baby finally decided to come on his own!
What brand of diapers do/did you buy? Pamper swaddlers at first and then huggies. We found that buying the huge boxes from Costco is the best and cheapest way to go.
Do/did you nurse or bottle feed? I nursed Landon for a few months but it was too hard for me to keep up with him. We started sumplimenting and eventrually went to just formula. Good thing my mother in law was able to get us formula for free because I don't think we would of been able to afford it otherwise. I am going to definately try to only breastfeed with the next baby we have. It's the best way to go!
Will you have more? I would LOVE to have more. Chris wants 2 more and I'm leaning towards 3 more. We'll see how it goes with 2 more babies!
How long were you in labor? I checked into the hospital around 4 am and had Landon at 12:20 pm. I had been in labor at home since about 8pm. It didn't seem too bad though because I was able to rest at the hospital.
Did you get an epidural? I did. I got the epidural when I was dialted to 7 cm. It worked great through all of the contractions but the nurses turned it off when towards the end so I felt the baby come out-all 9 pounds and all!
Did you find out the gender before birth? We did and I am so glad. The anticipation would of killed me!
Did you have a baby shower? Yes, my friend Mandy threw me one at her parents home. I got pretty much everything I needed. It was great.
Who was in the delivery room with you? Chris, my mom, mother in law, our doctor, nurse, and one other staff member. My father and father in law came to see the baby shortly after his birth. I was really sad that most of my family couldn't come see the new baby. Only one of Chris' sisters came to the hospital the day after he was born. That kind of bummed me out too.
Did you have a c-section? No, thank goodness. I was afraid I would need one.
Do/did you keep a baby journal? Not during the pregnancy but Landon has a baby memory book and a scrapbook.
How much weight did you gain during your pregnancy? Surprisingly only about 34 pounds.
Do you have any keepsakes? Of course! Lots of photos, his first hat, and, gross I know, the imbilical cord clamp. The nurse that helped with the birth handed it to me as we were being discharged from the hospital and told me I should put it in his book. I shoved it in my purse and was thinking about throwing it away but for some reason, it's in a baggy in a box in my hopechest. Don't ask.
Did you suffer from “morning sickness” during your pregnancy? Nope. My pregnancy was awesome. I had the ideal pregnacy. I hope all of my other ones are the same.
What were your baby’s stats at birth? 9 lbs even, 19.5 inches long born Wednesday September 5th, 2006 and 12:20 pm
What music did you listen to most during your pregnancy? Country mostly. I didn't do the whole putting the headphones on my belly for the baby to hear. I dont think I could of found headphones to even fit.
What was the best thing about being pregnant? Definitely feeling him move and knowing I was his mother and I was keeping him safe.
What was the best thing about your baby’s birth? Just the fact that he was finally in our arms and healthy. Towards the end of the pregnancy, it felt as if he would never come so it was really speacial when he did.
What has been the best thing about motherhood so far? Watching Landon through every stage of his life so far. Watching him grow and learn is pretty amazing. He is just a fun little guy! I love being his mommy.
