Swimming!

We have definately been taking advantage of Brittany's "free" pool. Chris had the day off so after Carter's appointment, we headed over there for a few hours. Landon has gotten really good at floating around by himself in his little star tube and it's fun to watch him. Carter is a little water baby and loves all of the toys that we bring to the pool with us. We try really hard to keep hats on Carter but he constantly pulls of the darn things. He started off wearing a blue hat he got for his birthday and ended up with Landon's. Don't know how that worked out but that's okay! I'm sure we will be swimming LOTS more over at the Tak's. Thanks guys!

Carter's hair getssuper curly when wet. So funny!

1 Year Stats

Carter went to the doctors today for his one year check up. He looks perfectly healthy! Here are his stats:
Weight: 20.4 pounds (15%)
Height: 30 inches (just under 50%)
Head Circumference 18.2 inches (just under 50%)

Since Carter is allergic to eggs, he lucked out and did not have to get any shots today. He did get his iron and lead levels checked and they both are great. He didn't even cry when they poked his finger for blood-such a good little guy! He sucked and pulled off his band aid and had to get another one. I knew he was going to put his bandaged finger right in his mouth! The appointment went well and we feel so blessed to have such a healthy baby.
Carter has been quite the little dancer lately. Anytime music comes on, he will bust out a move. Here he is on the way to his appointment. How funny is he?!

Par-Tay

We ended up having Carter's birthday a few days late so that Daddy could join in on the fun! Brittany and Cody came over for pizza, watermelon, and cake! Carter LOVED the balloons all over the place and could not understand why we would not let him "blow" them up like we were. He had a lot of fun with his presents (so did Landon) and even more fun digging into his egg free cake! We had a good time but still can't believe Carter is already ONE. Happy birthday again, sweet boy!

Where's your cake Carter? Oh that's right, on the floor and in your lap!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Our sweet little Carter turned one year old today and we can hardly believe it! Happy 1st birthday Carter James. We sure love you!

Standing

Chris and I have been waiting to see Carter doing this in his crib! The other day, he had woken from his nap and I could hear him fussing. I was finishing something and then I went upstairs to get him. When I walked in, Carter was STANDING in his crib, holding on for dear life! He must of not figured out how to get down. We finally got to put the crib mattress down later so this little monkey won't fall out. It's about time Carter bug!

Timpanogos Hike

For Father's Day this year, the kids and I ended up hanging out with my parents. Unfortunately, Chris had to work so he didn't even get to spend time with the boys. Anyway, our plan was to go meet up with my Grandpa in the mountains at his favorite fishing spot. We were going to meet but were running late so we opted to just try to find it without following him so he could just leave. Turns out the fishing spot was WAY up in the mountains and my mom's car just couldn't make it. We didn't have cell phone service so we decided to maybe go for a walk and eat lunch until we heard from them. Then my mom convinced me to go on a 3 mile hike up the mountain to Timpanogos Cave where they gave tours. I figured I could handle 3 miles and Landon would be fine. So my mom stayed behind with Carter and my dad, Landon and I took off. It was such a STEEP STEEP hike that it felt like it was way longer than 1.5 miles each way. Landon made it all the way to the top, loved the cave tour, then was carried almost the whole way down. Coming down the mountain was just as hard as going up because it was so steep that you almost had to run and then catch your self. Anyway, it was fun, I'm glad we did it ( the hike was beautiful and cave tour was pretty awesome) and that I was able to spend time with my Daddy. Will I do this hike anytime soon? I don't know, maybe when the boys are older and with actual hiking shoes! The pictures are from the beginning of the hike. Wish I could show how high up we were and how scary it was! There was no guardrails or anything so can you imagine trying to keep a 3 year old to not go too close to the edge?!

It was hot outside but inside the cave, it was about 45 degrees so Landon got to wear my sweatshirt.

Stitches

Landon received his very first stitches tonight. We had just finished making some goodies for Father's Day and Landon wanted a snack before bed. We were sharing a 7-UP and he wanted some eggs. As I was at the stove, I heard the soda can fall to the floor so my first reaction was to move Landon so I could get the can before it spilled all over. Well, I was dumb DUMB DUMB and pulled the chair Landon went flying. Everytime we sit at the table, I try to get him to sit on his bottom but almost ALWAYS he is sitting on his knees, half way off the chair and that's how he was this time. I didn't see any blood or anything but scooped him up and brought him into the bathroom where I saw the gash on the side of his head. I FELT SO BAD! He was scared but after we assured him he would be alright, he calmed down a bit. Chris called his mom to try to explain what the cut looked like and see if he needed to go get stitches. He then tried to get a picture on his phone to send to her but it didn't work. My dad showed up and immediately said that he thought we should go to the ER so that's what we did.My brave little Landon got two blue stitches. The worst part was having to hold his head down while they numbed the cut but after that, Landon did GREAT. I was so thankful to have my dad there with us. We were in and out of the emergency room in two hours and Landon fell asleep in my arms just before we were able to go home. I feel so guilty because it was just a soda can that fell. I would much rather clean up a sticky mess than have to take Landon in to the ER and see him in pain but he is such a brave little guy. I love him so much.
Before:
Sorry if the first picture is a little too much for some. It was taken right after his gash was cleaned up and numbed so it swelled a bit.
After:

Aloha!

My childhood friend, Michael, got married in the Bountiful temple today to Danni. I haven't seen him since he graduated high school a few years back and it is so weird to see him all grown up! We are so happy for them and had a blast at their reception. We were greeted with leis, ate lots of yummy Hawaiian food, and even got to see some Hawaiian performances. Landon even got proposed to by Michael's little neice. She would chase Landon around saying "Let's get married!" but Landon didn't know how to react so eventrually she told us, "I don't want to marry him if he doesn't want to marry me!" It was SO funny. Anyway, Congratulations you two!!!

Discovering

Our little boy will be one years old this Tuesday and he is still not crawling! Well, he can crawl but not the full up on your hands and knees crawling-he army crawls and he is FAST! Just a few days ago, Carter finally discovered that we have stairs and he thought they were the coolest thing. He didn't try to climb up them but played on the first step for over a half an hour. I'm nervous having these stairs because there is no way to put out baby gate up on the bottom. We will have to figure something out soon. Another one of Carter's favorite things right now is to crawl up to the cable box and either turn off the tv or change the channel. Landon just loves this when he is trying to watch his shows. Such a curious little monkey!

Bug Catcher

My dad is quite the handyman and is teaching Landon well. Together they made a bug catcher in the garage-how fun for summer! My favorite part is how my dad wrote their names and the date on the bottom and Landon signed his name too .Landon loves his Pa-Pa and enjoys doing all sorts of things with him. They are buddies and I think it's so cute.

See? Cute!

Hair

I have a hard time keeping up with Landon's hair. It seems like every few weeks he needs a haircut and I hate paying almost twenty bucks for it after the tip. It's also not a lot of fun to have him scream bloody murder while they get close to his ears. If we take him somewhere to get it done, he usually ends up on my lap and so does all of his hair that was just cut. I tried to trim it a week or so ago and it turned out OKAY and looked better than it did but it really just needed to either be cut by a professional or by our clippers we have at home. So spontaneously I buzzed Landon's hair this morning before breakfast. I'm not really a huge fan or shaved heads on little boys (I love the fohawk look) but I think it turned out SO cute, er handsome! I love his little calic. It makes it hard to style his hair but it just another part of him. Just before Landon turned one, we had my Grandmother trim his baby locks. Now that Carter is approaching his 1 year birthday, I don't know if I want to. He's got the prettiest color and curls, how could i? I think we will grow his out a bit more. Hooray for not spending a dime on either one of the boy's hair...At least for now!

Memorial Day

We started Memorial day off by visiting a few of our past loved ones. It was really neat to see the cemetaries FILLED with flowers and people. I didn't see one grave without a flower arrangment. First we visited my Great Grandmother and Grandfather Mayne from my mom's side who died within 8 months of eachother. Then we went to my Grandma Wagner's grave. When the boys are old enough to understand, we will have to tell them all of the fun memories we have of them. Landon didn't quite get what was going on. After that, we headed to the park where we swung on the swings and hit the baseball around. Just up the street from the park, my great Aunt Linda had everyone over for a BBQ. I got to ride on the back of my dad's motorcycle which I was a little nervous at first but it was awesome! We all had such a great time and were glad we all had the day to spend together.
