Pumpkin Carving Party

My aunt has an annual pumpkin carving party every year, and she and my mom go all out for it. We had soups and some different "scary" foods. Then, we all carved pumpkins.

"I LOVE MY MUMMY!" Landon's mouth matches his shirt-nice!
Landon was a huge fan of the treats. I can't blame him!

Getting ready to carve some pumpkins!

Landon even got to decorate his own special pumpkin. My mom found a pumpkin decorating kit. I thought it was an awesome idea for a two year old. Easy and CLEAN!

Don't worry-this is just when my pumpkin caught on fire. Can you tell what I carved?

(BOO @ the ZOO)

Lions and tigers and scares, oh my! Each year, on the Saturday before Halloween, Hogle Zoo puts on "Boo at the Zoo!" It is an event for kids 12 and younger, and is included in the price of regular zoo admission. Landon was free because he is 2 (I was free because someone handed us an adult ticket and said we could have it!) Anyway, kids can dress up in their favorite costumes and trick-or-treat at booths set up throughout the zoo. My mom took Chris, Landon, and me there this afternoon. Landon dressed as the cutest monkey, ever! It was CRAZY but lots of fun. I really couldn't believe how many people were there. It was pretty warm outside too. I have never seen such nice weather for October! The trick or treating part was kind of a bust because the lines were so dang long but Landon enjoyed the animals more anyway! It was a fun idea but I'm not sure if we'll be up for it next year. My camera battery died right when we got there so I didn't get a ton of pictures but my mom was able to get some with hers. Landon was posing perfect right when we got there but we didn't get the camera out in time-darn! Good thing I had my video camera and that Landon can wear his costume on Halloween, right? ;)

His favorite-the monkeys! What a perfect costume for him this year.

"Mom! A Guy!" He thinks skeletons or 'scary' looking costumes were guys.

How do you measure up? I remember standing in front of this when I was a kid.

Mommy and Landon
This was right in front of where we parked-the trees were beautiful.

**I made a video of almost all of the animals we saw so I can make Landon his own DVD. This way, he won't run up to the computer every five minutes shouting, "MONKEY! MONKEY?!" Uncle Travis made the mistake of showing Landon the funny monkeys on YouTube. HAHA.**

Tag Blankies

I saw this idea a while ago and have been wanting to try it. Then, I saw them for sale at a boutique for $10 which I thought was way overpriced! I decided I needed to break out my sewing machine. I thought my sewing machine was broken so I was pleasantly surprise to find it working. YAY! Most of the fabric I got for free from my aunt a while ago so this project pretty much cost me nothing. I love ribbon and always buy it in bulk so I had plenty of that. Anyway, Landon loved his tag blanket when he was a baby and even wanted to snuggle with it today when I got it out. On the downside, it's pretty heavy and you can't attach toys to it. I thought these small tag blankets would be good for a carseat toy and in the summer or even anytime. They aren't perfect because it was my first time making them but then again, babies don't care! I think they are fun.

Here is the store bought blanket. Some of the tags make a crinkling noise.

I think I like how this one turned out the best.

Lady Bugs
This one didn't turn out so well. Good thing I have lots of the pink bumpy fabric left to try again!

my first one.

If anyone wants one, let me know! I have tons of fabric left over plus more and it keeps me entertained. Otherwise, I have no reason to really make them!

Pumpkin Patch

Landon was in pumpkin heaven!

Picking out the best pumpkins with Daddy.

I LOVE this picture!

We went to the pumpkin patch today for the first time as a family! My mom took us to a pumpkin patch in Syracuse. We actually pulled up thinking it was the patch we orginally planned to go to but it wasn't. We found some awesome HUGE pumpkins though. No one told us about the fun hayride for $5 (including picking a pumpkin way out in the field) until we paid for the pumpkins. Bummer! Landon loved all of the pumpkins and had a good time and that's all that matters. The picture of Landon smiling with the pumpkin made me happy too! Finally, a smiley picture of my little pumpkin ;)
