Little Adventure

I am going crazy at home without a car. I don't know how much longer I can handle being stranded at home with two young children. I can only take the boys outside on the grass for so long and we are getting bored being inside all day. I didn't want today to be another day like that so I packed up the kids in our double stroller and we went on a little adventure. It only takes about five minutes or so to get to the main street by foot. There isn't a whole lot of shopping places but there is a theatre, lots of places to eat, craft store, two grocery stores, gas stations, places like H&R block, music stores, dry cleaners, dentist and things like that! We first checked out a little gift shop where they carry a ton of baby items. Landon got to play with legos while I looked around and he thought that was pretty neat. On our way out, we met a new friend. Out of no where, a dog came running up to me like he knew me and started following us everywhere! If I stopped, he would stop.
I was planning on going getting something to eat next so I didn't know what to do if he followed me. He even trailed behind us across the street on the cross walk. This went on for quite a while! People must of thought I was crazy not having a dog on a leash because he would kind of stray off the sideway and then come back to us. Anyway, I was talking to my sister about it and she told me to look and see if his owner's number was on the dog's tag-DUH! She's so smart. I called and it connected me to animal control where they were able to give me the dog's name (Mickey!) and his owner's number. I called and he thanked me and asked if I could wait maybe 5 minutes and I said "Yeah, that's fine. He is just sitting next to us by our stroller."

Well it took way longer than 5 minutes and all of a sudden, the dog just TOOK off. Right onto oncoming traffic. I kept calling the dogs name but he didn't even look back. What else could I really do with the kids sitting there? I watched helplessly while Landon kept asking if the dog was getting hit and I really thought he was going to be. I didn't want the kids to see that! Landon really liked that dog and even asked if we could take him home. I never met the owner, I told him what direction the dog ran to and then just went on our way. I hope they found him! He was a sweet thing and I felt so bad that he was thirsty and hot.

After that, we headed to McDonalds because I was thinking their air conditioning, play area, and cheap icecream cones sounded real nice. It was almost 2 by then so I got the boys and I some lunch. Carter was having a blast with the icecream and his spoon while Landon played with the video games instead of the slides. Why in the world is there a video system at McDonalds? Anyway, after we were there for a while, I headed over to a little store called Family Dollar to just look around. I was going to maybe check out the craft store too but Carter zonked out (plastic spoon in hand) while we were there and Landon followed a few minutes later.
I then headed to the library to return our movies and get a few books and see if they had any more good movies in. It was getting pretty hot by then so we stayed longer at the library than I was thinking, just to cool off. Landon slept the whole time and Carter was a big help by pulling out ALL the fun books to read :) We ended up getting home a little before 4pm and I was glad I had left the air conditioning running while we were gone. I was actually happy to be home! We will have to go exploring Kaysville a little more another day. There is a cute little bakery and a few other stores I've never been to that I want to check out. Anyway, may not sound too exciting to some but we had a great time and I even got a little color from the sun. Hopefully the next time we do something like this, it won't be because we don't have a car. We need one IMMEDIATELY or I might really lose it!!!
