Day 1: Drove for 12ish hours to a spot in Idaho where we met Chris' family for a little mini family reunion. 12 freaking HOURS! When we heard that camping was going to be in Idaho we figured 4-5 hours of driving. Don't worry that Carter was breaking in 2 new teeth and screamed almost the whole way (except for a few minutes while I quickly snapped some photos!) We were more than happy when we pulled into the camp site and were greeted with lots of hugs. Seeing all (but one) of Chris' sisters with their kids and the in laws made the drive so worth it. Landon was SO happy to see all of his cousins andthere was a ton of them! He even got a personalized Landon shirt with Iron Man on it that he had to put on right away. He pretty much wore it all weekend.
Day 2: Thank goodness the kids didn't have any trouble sleeping in the tent! I was a little worried. Carter woke up once in the middle of the night and slept in Chris' arms instead of his play pen. I the day, we spent it down by the water. Splish splashing away and taking turns in the paddle boat and canoes we rented. The boys busted out their Nintendo DS games and we didn't see Landon for a while. He was in heaven. Haha. We had a yummy dinner and later roasted marshmellows. Found out they had showers. Awesome. Did I happen to bring any kind of soap or anything like that? Nadda. We were filthy. Kids went down pretty easy and we spent most of the night laughing around the camp fire. Good times.
Day 3: Awoke to rain. Ate, got dressed, crammed our (WET) stuff into our car, took some pictures, said goodbye. Then we were on the road again. This time, Carter did pretty well. Only had two accidents in the car but made it home all in one piece!
We had a great time (minus the LONG drive with the kids) and made some great memories. We are excited to do this again next year. This, we all decided, is going to be the new Brown family tradition. Only next time, we're crossing our fingers for a closer location!
[As we were leaving our house to get on the free way, Landon shouts in the back seat "Dang it!" First thing that came to our minds was something spilled, someone had an accident, or a blankey was forgotten. Then our almost 4 year old added "I
forgot my wallet."]
