Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep April 30, 2011.
Fred was born March 18, 1931 to Daniel Ray and Edna Wagner. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married his sweetheart Elaine Cline on June 12, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Fred attained his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from USC and worked his entire life as an engineer, including 15 years as an associate professor at the University of Utah.
Fred loved sports and coached many teams. He and Elaine enjoyed season tickets at the University of Utah in football, basketball and gymnastics. They both coached and umpired slow-pitch softball and basketball. As a member of the LDS Church, Fred served in many positions including Bishop. His ability to teach was his passion both in and out of the church.
Survived by his children, Craig (Ellen), Marvin (Pamela), Joleen (Mark) Black, Lori, Daniel (Laurie); 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Winnifred (Bill) Cardinal and brother, Karl (Rachel). Preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6th, 2:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Dr. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park. I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa Brooke. Like you said in the post above though, how wonderful that he is reunited with his sweetheart <3
