It's Finally Time!
I went in for my 38th week appointment on Wednesday the 17th. I was 38 weeks and 4 days preggo. First, I went in for the stress test at 8:30am and then went back at 2:00pm for a normal prenatal visit. My sister took me to both and hung out with me in SLC inbetween. It was a lot of fun to just do nothing and get some time alone with Brittany before the baby comes. Nothing too exciting went on during the stress test so I didn't expect anything different at my appointment. When my doctor walked in, one of the first things she said was that she was talking to the other attendings to determine weither or not I should be induced...I was estatic! She had to keep going out and coming back in and after a while, it seemed like it wasn't going to happen. She mentioned that if they DID end up inducing me, it would be around 40 weeks or so but since I was almost 39 weeks she would try to make it happen. I then got dissappointed...that was a week and a half away and I didn't think anything would be happening soon. She left once more and came back asking me if Friday would work. Brittany and I were both confused...I wasn't sure if she meant that Friday or the next. We talked it over and all of the doctors thought it was best to just go ahead and induce my labour in the next few days because of everything that has gone on during my pregnancy and the tests I had to have done each week. I had to have some blood work done and did a 24 hour urine culture at home-not fun! They needed my to do these tests to be able to treat me if need be since I was borderline preclampic. SO, my doctor wasn't sure if she would be able to be there for all of the labour and birth on Friday night and said it could possibly be Saturday. I called Chris to tell him the news and he was just as excited as I was. I was about to hang up the phone with him when he suddenly realized that Saturday was our anniversary-oops...I forgot about all about that! If I was admitted Friday night then most likely, the baby would be born on our anniversary. She told me she would call me to make further plans. I thought oh well, if he comes that day that that's alright. I got a call from her on Thursday afternoon asking if it would be alright to come in Saturday night. Whew! I got instructions to call on 5pm Saturday night to see what time I should head in. She told me it would probably be 7-7:30pm. I called exactly at 5 all ready (carseat in car and bags all packed!) to go hoping that I could come in right away. Apparently, the labour and delivery floor is pretty full tonight because everyone decided to have their babies! I was told to call back at 7:30 and it would more than likely be close to 9pm when they would want me to come in. How annoying! Anyway, we are praying for a healthy baby boy to be born tomorrow afternoon. Wish us luck!
