Wit and Wisdom of Mothers

I have been sick for the past month (it seems like) so today, I decided to take a nice hot bath while Landon was napping. I took along a book called 'Wit and Wisdom of Mothers.' My father in law gave it to me the day Landon was born. I haven't really taken the time to read through it-until today. There was some pretty cute/funny quotes in there. Here are some of my favorites;

"Housework can't kill you; but why take a chance?" -Phyllis Diller

"A mom's behind you all the way...picking up all the junk you left lying around the house."

"Being a full-time mother is one of the highest-salaried jobs in my field, since the payment is pure love." -Mildred B. Vermont

"If only we could see ourselves as mothers do, we would love ourselves far greater and with more forgiveness than we could imagine." -Lauren Benson

"Other things may change us, but we start and end with family." -Anthony Brandt

"Every family tree must have a little sap" -Anonymous"

"I've only got one mom. Couldn't get by with any fewer, couldn't handle any more." -John Dill

"Good moms let kids lick the beaters. Great moms turn the mixer off first." Amie Doyen

"We find a delight in the beauty and happiness of children that makes the heart too big for the body." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

"In most states, you can get a driver's license when you're sixteern years old, which made a lot of sense to me when I was sixteen years old, but now seems insane." -Phyllis Diller

"There are two classes of travel-first class and with children." - Robert Benchley

"My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it." -Samuel Clemens

"Mom...the best cheerleader that vegetables ever had." -Bill Gray

"Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing." -Phyllis Diller

"If you wantthe rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain." -Dolly Parton

"A mother understands what a child does not say." Jewish Proverb

"I have found that the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it." -Harry S. Truman

"We never know the love of the parent until we become parents ourselves." -Henry Ward Beecher

"If it weren't for mom's, where would we be? Probably in the middle of traffic, talking to some stranger-without our jackets on!" -Myra Zirkle

I love being a mom and I love my son more than life itself. Although we may have difficult days, I wouldn't trade being a mother for anything. I know there are things I need to work on but I hope I am doing a good job and that I make Landon proud.
