Appointment @ 28 Weeks

I hit the 28Th week mark today and had yet another appointment. I have to say this one was the most eventful by far. I went in thinking we would be there for maybe an hour-boy was I wrong! My blood pressure was pretty high and the babies heart rate was in the 190's for quite some time. My doctor tried using a different machine to see if it was reading wrong but his little heart rate was still not what it's supposed to be. Normal is considered 140's to 170's. My doctor was pretty concerned so she had me check into labour and delivery to have a non stress test done on the baby as well as some blood work. Before I left the office I had the Rhogam shot in my bottom because my blood is Rh negative. We don't know the babies blood type so if it ends up being different, my body could possibly reject other pregnancies if I didn't get the shot. I had to do the same thing when I was pregnant with Landon but ended up not needing the shot after delivery. Anyway, my urine was sent to the lab (there was traces of protein which isn't good)while I was hooked up to a constant fetal monitor and blood pressure machine. The baby was VERY active and kept making it difficult to get his heart rate read consistently. When we did get his heart rate, it was perfectly fine. Whew! As far as my blood pressure, it was still pretty high. I was monitored from about 4pm to 8pm and it didn't settle. My blood work came back normal so that means I'm not preclamtic but was prescribed Labetalol to keep my blood pressure in control. I go back in one week to make sure everything is okay. In the mean time, I need to take 2 pills a day and check and record my blood pressure. The nurse that discharged me was pretty surprised that I wasn't put on bed rest but we will see how things go. Bed rest is sounding pretty good to me right now but I'm sure I would hate it after a week. After I got home and rested for a bit, my mom helped me check my blood pressure with her electronic device and my blood pressure was pretty normal. Must mean the medication they gave me is working. High blood pressure runs in my family so I wasn't really shocked that it was high. I'm just glad my little guy is okay in there. I'm also glad that Mandy and Brady were able to be with me in the office and hospital. They were good sports even though we were there for almost 5 hours. Mandy even went and brought me snacks. Thanks for being such a good friend Mandy!
I forgot how hideous I look in the hospital gowns...sick!
The machines that monitored the me and the baby.

Brady and Mandy stayed with me the whole time.

Oh the joys of pregnancy! I can't wait until this is all over. I am so ready to have my body back. Oh, and to see that little miracle and Chris and I created! ;)

Hair Cut Time

Landon's hair was driving me crazy so I had to get it cut yesterday. Sorry Dana, I didn't hear back from you and I couldn't wait! I was scared to take him to the same place that totally messed up his hair last time but I figured I could ask for someone else. When I told them about our visit last time, the girl was shocked that someone used a zero on his hair and nothing on the top and then asked if the girl was blond. Turns our she got fired. Anyway, this girl was really good with Landon and got his hair done pretty quickly considering Landon was throwing a fit. She told him he was being so braved and Landon cried, "I'm BRA AVE! I'm BRAVE!" It was SO funny. We only ended up cutting the sides and back this time so we can let the top grow out a little before cutting it. It turned out really cute. Landon is such a handsome boy!
Before & After
Landon's hair doesn't look so bad in the before picture but believe me, it was pretty shaggy. Especially behind his ears and in the back. I had to start tucking his hair behind his ears! His hair grows so crazy in the back. Here is a picture to give you an example. I took this picture right before his first haircut.

Baby Brady

We have been having too much fun with Mandy's little guy, Brady. I was interested to see how Landon would react with the baby and he has been perfectly fine! He doesn't get jealous if I feed or hold the baby and that's a lot because I can't get enough of him. It seems natural to have a baby in our home...maybe it's because Brady is such a good boy and hardly ever cries. We just love him and are so glad he is staying for 3 weeks instead of 1! Yay!

Diaper Cakes

My sweet friend, Mandy, sent these diaper cakes in the mail for my sister and I. They arrived the day she got here, which was Monday. How silly is that? Anyway, she made them herself! The brown and baby blue one is mine and the one with more neutral colors is for Brit since she doesn't know what she is having yet. Brittany thinks it's a boy so Mandy went ahead and bought little baby booties that say "Thank Heavens for little Boys." and used them as a cake topper for both of ours. This is the first gift our babies have received that that's kind of fun to say. I don't know if I will be able to take it apart when the baby comes-they are just too cute.

Baby Bedding

Mandy is coming to stay with us for a week with her little baby (!!!) so I figured I could set up the crib for her. I also thought it would be fun to see how Landon would react to a crib in his room. He got really excited and wanted to help me "fix it"with a screwdriver. I also wanted to set up the crib and decide which bedding to use when the baby is here for the first few weeks or months. Our friends next door are giving us their crib, bedding, and matching changing table/dresser but I'm not sure when. They need to have their little boy transitioned from the crib to a bed. I figure the baby will be with us in a bassinet anyway but it's always fun to have the crib set up. Anyway, I can't decide if I want to use the star bedding or the airplane one I used when Landon came home. I have never used KSL but am always looking at double strollers but as soon as I find one that I like and talk to Chris about it, it's gone. Maybe someone would be willing to trade for a crib set or I could even just sell one and use the money to go towards a double stroller. Those things can get sooo pricey! It would be silly to go pick out another bed set even though that's what I want to do! I wish I would of gotten bedding that doesn't have a theme but just plain colors. I'm leaning towards the star one just becuase it goes with Landon's room more. You could say that I have alot of time on my hands....
