Belly News

I hit the 18 week mark today with this pregnancy! According to the book What To Expect When You're Expecting, I am now five months along. Aside from being a little tired, I am feeling great. I'm not sure if I have gained any weight yet but I don't really feel like much has changed since last month. I can feel the baby a lot more and don't think it will be long until Chris can feel it too. We have 9 days until our next ultrasound and that is what I am looking forward to the most. Keep your eye out for the big surprise!

Temple Open House

My sister has a calling as a Mia Maid advisor and their activity for Wednesday evening was to go to the Draper Temple open house. Cody wasn't able to go and Brit had a few extra tickets so she invited Landon and I to come along. I am so grateful that we did! What an awesome opportunity to go into every single room. It was one of the most beautiful temples I have ever seen. Landon was being SUCH a good boy. It was a lot of walking and it took about an hour but he was a champ. I think he could sense that it was a special place and knew to be quiet. It will be really neat to be able to tell him that he was there at the open house when he is older and understands.
Brittany drove two young women to the temple and let me tell you, Landon was the biggest flirt. Usually he gets mad when someone he doesn't really know sits next to him but he was in awe of them as soon as they got in the car. He was especially fond of the younger girl, Abby. The whole time we were waiting at the church for the shuttle, he would just look over at her and say, "Girls!" with a huge smile on his face. Everytime she would dissapear from his sight for more than a second, he would ask where she went. We took the elevator in the temple because there were a ton of stairs and Abby took the stairs. He got a really sad look on his face, put his hands up and said "Girl go?!" As soon as he saw her again, he wanted to hold her hand. Then he did the funniest thing ever! He started winking at her! I didn't even know that he knew what that meant. The whole carride home, he was talking up a storm to the girls. I asked him if he was going to cry when it was time for them to go home and he said "Yeah." Oh and he did! He was sad the whole rest of the night. What a ham!

Trip to Washington

I had so much fun with Mandy and her baby these last couple of days! Brady is the cutest baby and he made me very excited to have another one of my own. We didn't do a whole lot (besides shopping!) but it was perfect that way. I was happy with just holding the baby on the couch. When I first held Brady, I couldn't believe how much I forgot about infants! Within a few minutes, my maternal instincts kicked in. Funny how that works. I got to feed Brady and Mandy even let me bathe him too. I was sad to leave and cried as soon as it was time to say goodbye but I know that I will see them again soon. It's just hard for me to be so far from someone I love so much. We got excited when we thought my flight was going to be canceled due to the fog but at the last minute, they decided that it would be okay. I really wanted to stay but I knew I needed to get home to take care of my boys and go back to work. It was definately a nice little vacation though. Thanks for sharing your precious baby with me Mandy!

Mr.Mom

While I was in Seattle, Chris was able to stay home from work and spend some time with Landon. This is the longest he has been with Landon but from what I've heard, they had a lot of fun! I was scared that Landon would be upset the whole time and ask for me but Chris said he only asked for me twice. I even tried to call and talk to him and he refused. Made me a little sad but I was glad that they had a good time. They went to see some Elk at Hardware Ranch and played at Chuckie Cheese.

My Poor Son

So I am the biggest dumbie ever! We have been using a number 2 or 3 on our clippers to cut Landon's hair but you have to use scissors to get the very back and by his ears. I was tired of having to tuck his hair behind his ears so I thought I could trim it a little. Well, I did it while he was in the bath and it was a mess in the back but it wasn't that bad. So I decided that I am a horrible person to give hair cut with scissors and wanted to try a zero to just trim the crazy hairs. I went to far and all of a sudden my little boy had a huge bald spot. I had no choice-I had to shave his WHOLE head. I felt so bad the whole time. The worst part is that I was so upset that I had to do it that I left tiny patches everywhere. After I was done, I ran him upstairs and showed my mom, trying to hold bad the tears. All my mom could say was, "Oh Brooke! He looks like a cancer patient." Landon's pretty hair was gone and there was nothing I could do about it. The saddest part is that Landon won't take off his hat. He even wanted to wear it to bed last night. He is so self consious or something! That is the reason why I only have these pictures of him right after we were done. Next time, I am just going to have to buckle down and take him to a professional place. I just hate taking him to a salon when all they are doing is trimming a tiny bit of hair. The last time I took him to cookie cutters, I had to shave his whole head then because the girl did such a bad job. It grew back within a few weeks so that makes me feel a little bit better. Sorry your mom is crazy Landon! I promise won't do it again!

Upcoming Weekend

I get to play with this:
Early Saturday morning, I am headed to Seattle, Washington to visit Mandy and her baby boy, Brady. Chris and Landon are staying home so this will be a nice break for me. Plus, I get to play with the cutest baby around! I can't wait!

Nesting

How soon does the nesting stage take place in pregnancy? I feel like it's already hit me. I like things to be clean anyway but it's not always how things go in our home. Lately, I have been wanting to organize EVERYTHING! I spent almost the whole Saturday cleaning and organizing our things in the garage and the day before, organizing Landon's closet. I also got rid of a whole bunch of stuff. I usually have a hard time giving things away but it felt great!I have had this overwelming desire to get everything ready for the baby too. I have been good though...I haven't gone into any baby stores lately! However, I'm sure I will go crazy when we find out what we are having in a few weeks. I have also thought about making casseroles and freezing them so when the baby is here, we won't have to worry about cooking. I only know of a few casseroles that my family likes. I think it would be fun to cook for a whole day and get it out of the way. Especially when I feel like there is nothing to do while we are stuck at home without a car and Daddy is at work. Anyway, in less than 2 weeks, I will be five months pregnant. I can't believe it. I thought that after I was done with the first trimester that I would start feeling better but I feel like the grouchiness came instead. My poor husband. I think it hits me worst when I am tired or hungry and people don't quite understand how much a pregnancy wipes you out. It's hard for me to nap when I have a 2 year old running around. But I am almost halfway there. YAY!

Here is Landon's closet. This one was the most fun for me. He had so many things everywhere. I was able to put a lot of his toys in baskets in his room and play room. All of his books can easily be found on the last shelf. They used to be in the white tupperware where I am storing the TV for the N64. Now I have two drawers to store baby things.

This may not look very organized to you but you should have seen it before. Now we can actually get to our things and my mom can park her car easier. I also mimimized the clutter by making a huge trip to the D.I. Our stuff used to be piled high and to the door. You had to jump over things to get from the car to the door. Not anymore.

I even cleaned up Landon's play room underneath the stairs among other places. Probably won't stay like that long but doesn't it look nice? From this post, you may notice that it seems like I have a lot of time on my hands and I do.

Landon's {BIG} Boy Bed

We finally did it! I took Landon's crib down yesterday and my dad helped me set up Landon's VERY own bed. I also went to Toys R Us and purchased a guard rail to help him from falling out of bed. I was a little bit worried that he wouldn't easily make the switch but he did! He was so excited when Pa Pa was helping me put the sheets on. We kept asking Landon if it was his new big boy bed and he would reply, "Yeah! Landon's bed!" Before bed, we usually turn on a movie in our bedroom and let Landon watch it. I thought it would be fun to bring our portable DVD player in his room and watch it together on his bed. He really liked that. He picked Ice Age and snuggled up on his pillows. I fell asleep but after a while, Chris came in and told Landon it was time to get ready for bed. He rocked Landon for a few minutes and then asked him if he wanted to go get in his bed. He said yes! Chris said he made himself comfortable with his blankey and by laying on his tummy with his bum in the air. I expected Landon to get up in the middle of the night but he did very well. I went in around 9:45am and he was still asleep. I am so proud of him. This was such a big deal for us. Our little boy had been in his crib for 28 months! Way to go Landon!

My camera died right when I was going to take pictures of Landon on his bed but I was able to take one after I charged my battery. Here is Landon the next morning. He is so funny! He loves sleeping with blankets over his face. Wonder who he got that from ;) Good thing I put that guard rail up!

Landon's New Bedding

I found a twin sheet set today for Landon for two dollars a peice. I thought it would be a good idea to have some cotton sheets for the summer since he just received flannet sheets for Christmas. I went home thinking I had purchased a top and a bottom sheet but it ended up being two top sheets. I was going to return them when my aunt had a brilliant idea-make a duvet cover!!!! So that's what I did. I flipped the two sheets inside out, pinned it in place, and went to town. My sewing machine kept having problems so I got a little frustrated but I think it was worth the stress because it turned out super cute. I already had a goose down comforter from when I when I was in highschool and some red pillow cases so this cost me only $4.00! Not too shabby. The best part is that Chris thought it was the cutest thing and couldn't believe that I had made it. He said he couldn't of picked out a better bed set for Landon. I hope Landon likes it too! Now he'll have his very own big boy bedding when the time comes for him to move out of the crib.

Weekend Fun

Brittany and Cody invited us to go bowling in Bountiful on Friday night. We left while it was snowing so it was a bit icy but we made it and had a great time! Landon LOVED it. At first I felt bad that Landon was too little to actually bowl but he was perfectly content with being everyone's cheerleader. He would watch the person bowling and yell "Go, go, go Cody!" or whoeever was up. It was a lot of fun. Chris had to work and missed out so we will definately have to go back with Daddy!

On Saturday, my parents took Landon and I to the Utes game with their season tickets. I'm not a huge fan of going to sporting events but I usually end up having a good time. Landon loved watching the "guys" play basketball & nachos we had boughten. It was cute when he insisted on wearing his knitted hat. He even got to pound it with the Ute mascot. What a lucky boy! I should of gotten up to snap a better shot butI didn't even know if my dad was going to catch him. He did and Landon did NOT want to say bye. The whole rest of the game he was sad and kept asking "Where bird go?" with shrugged shoulders. OH Landon!

Don't worry about the poopy looking stuff on my dad's bum. It was just some spilt nachos he sat in!

2009 is here!

We celebrated the new year with Brittany and Cody, an order of chinese food, and a scary movie. Landon was even up in time to welcome the new year. Hopefully this year is a good one. We are ready for it! Happy New Year everyone!
